Everybody loves a parade, especially in Chattanooga

Starlight Parade FloatOur family loved the Starlight Parade last night. It was the first year that we went and I was pretty impressed.

We remembered the dress warmly and were really glad that we remembered gloves (not always a necessity in Chattanooga). We scored our spot right in front of Taco Mac (where we also had dinner), and by the time the parade got to our group, we were ready for some fun.

My initial impressions of the parade were: “I had no idea Chattanooga had this many twirlers.” And, “Chattanooga sure likes corvettes!”

The corvette club and the twirlers were not the only ones in the parade. We saw plenty of marching bands, girl scout troops, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and representation from many local radio stations. I am so happy that the parade was full of so many people ready to pass along some Christmas cheer and support downtown.

Oh, I can’t forget the candy. There was plenty of candy given out by the generous folks actually in the parade. Fuller, my son, wasn’t quite sure what to do with the celephane wrapped candy, but once I opened a candy cane and gave it to him, he was all about getting that candy.

The revitalization of Chattanooga’s downtown has been so exciting to watch over the past 8 years. Being a part of the parade, even as a spectator, was a really magical moment and a great way to keep the Christmas spirit up in Chattanooga.

If you missed the parade, don’t stress out. News Channel 3 will be televising the parade on December 10th, at 1 pm.

Where I will be: Winter Days and Lights

Tomorrow night is the Holiday Starlight Parade. It will head down Market Street from Miller Plaza, on down to the Tennesse Aquarium. We plan on trying to get a spot somewhere near Jack’s Alley. This is the first year that I will see the parade, so I am expecting big things from you, Chattanooga!

I’m really excited to take my son so he can see the lights, one of his favorite things to point out to us. The bonus is that is it free. The amount of Greyfriar’s coffee that I will drink won’t be free, but the parade and following concert are all free.

See you there!
