Fall Y’all Bloggy Giveaway: Noog Shirt!

Update on November 3rd: Comments on this entry are now closed. I will post the winner of the random drawing tomorrow. I hope you will return to check up on Chattanooga every now and then. And if you are a blogger here in Chattanooga, I suggest adding your blog to the Chattablogs aggregator with your RSS feed.

I had an absolutely glorious Chattanooga day today. It was sunny but not hot, with some nice breezes at perfect times. I spent most of the day outside, painting my front porch. I accomplished a lot and it really put me in a good mood. Such a good mood that I decided to give something away!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Rock in my Dryer: Reviews is hosting the Fall Y’all Bloggy Giveaways Carnival and I decided Chattanooga should participate in some small way.

Tonight I was in Mocha Joe’s picking up a vanilla latte (3914 Saint Elmo Ave). I noticed they have some of the fun shirts from The Noog for sale. Secretly I have always wanted one, but never ponied up the cash. Well, I think I want to give away one of their shirts in honor of this great city.

How does this work? Just head over to The Noog and check out their shirts. Leave a comment (one comment per person) here and tell me which shirt you think you would like. I will close comments on Saturday, November 3rd, 12 p.m. EST. I will post the winner on Sunday, November 4th.

And if you are in a commenting mood, just head over to the Fall Y’all Bloggy Giveaway and see who else is offering what.

Chattanooga the host: 14th Carnival of Cities to be hosted here

Chattanooga is an excellent host city. The conference facilities at the trade center and the Chattanoogan are top notch, the free shuttle to get around town is easy to use, and the dining is wonderful. Shopping at Warehouse Row is appealing and the coffee shops are relaxing. And it is all done in the beautiful setting that is the Tennessee Valley. The surrounding mountains and revitalized river walk and Ross’s Landing give downtown a family feel, with plenty to do.

Carnival of CitiesAnd here, at Chattanooga is Home, we are going to be hosting the 14th Carnival of Cities next Monday.

A blog carnival is a blogger participation project, where a host (me!) will gather blog entries on a topic (something about a city, your city) and display them all in one place: the carnival. This project gives bloggers more traffic and hopefully more readers. It is a great way to discover new blogs and make new friends.

If you want to submit an entry for next weeks carnival, then go ahead and make your submission. The guidelines are below.

Roam if you want to: Carnival of Cities 13th edition

Do you ever have an “any where but here” day? I think I might be having one right now. Of course, if I step outside, my sick toddler and my broken washing machine will still be here when I get back, so I’m going to have to make do with a couch potato lifestyle until nap time.

And while Fuller lounges on the couch watching various animated movies, I think I will take a trip via the Carnival of Cities. This week it is hosted by Carole in San Diego, and she did a great round up of all the participants, including pictures!

If you want to be a part of next week’s carnival, submit your entry. You don’t have to have a travel blog, or a blog specific to a city, just write something about where you live or what is going on in your neighborhood.

My top five Chattanooga choices for Mother’s Day lunch

When I was growing up, it seemed that Mother’s Day would culminate around where to eat. The idea was to give mom a “day off” from that thankless task of cooking a big Sunday meal.

Now that I am a mom, I get to be the center of attention on that special day (after I give my own mother her present and phone call, of course). I told my husband he doesn’t have to get me a gift because I already bought it for myself. But that doesn’t let him off the hook for making the day special. In fact, he better be thinking about this right now!

Well, he might not be thinking about it right this very second, but I am happy to help give him a few directions to take to make Mother’s Day special.

  • 1. Lunch at Sticky Fingers. The thing about going to a restaurant for Mother’s Day is that everyone will be going as well. I really like Sticky Fingers and think it is a great family restaurant, one that our two year old can sit properly in. Since it is downtown, if we have a long wait (which will be likely), we can wait at my husband’s office or in Jack’s Alley. And then I can enjoy their Jack Daniels Ribs with a side of cinnamon apples. Yum.
