Welcome...

Chattanooga is Home is a blog celebrating life in Chattanooga. Family fun is highlighted by announcing and reporting on various events in the Tennessee Valley.

Another Tit-Bit...

Segway to Chattanooga fun

Our family disappeared from the Tennessee Valley to head north to the Ohio Valley. Now we are back for the long haul… and it is good to be back in Chattanooga. It is very familiar, comforting, and well… it is home!

Trying to get back into the swing of things, especially this blog, has been difficult due to illness and the impending dentist appointment tomorrow.

But it helps to have something as exciting as the promise of Segways leading tours of Chattanooga. Well, it doesn’t seem to be a promise yet, mainly a proposal. And I hope that it goes through.

According to the article,

An 8.2-mile, hour and a half tour is planned, starting from the Tennessee Aquarium and going across the Walnut Street Bridge to North Chattanooga and back for a route down to Coolidge Park and up to the Boathouse restaurant. It will end back at the Aquarium.

That sounds exciting to me, but the article points out that there are obstacles like the speed limit on the Riverwalk and the perception that the tours don’t belong in places that are meant for “playing, picnicking and kite flying.” In my opinion, the idea of an organized tour moving along the paths of the city brings more fun to downtown. And if the proposal goes through, I want to be fifth or sixth in line. I’ll take lots of pictures!

Forget 5th or 6th in line, you’ve just been bumped up to 2nd. Thank you for your support for our endeavor. We do believe this will be a great addition to the Chattanooga community and are enthusiatic about smoothing out the few small details left and getting started.
    Cheers! –Marcy Braasch
