Pearl Harbor remembered in Chattanooga
Today at work a co-worker asked me if I knew what today was. I answered that it was Pearl Harbor Day and he was very surprised that I answered correctly to his pop quiz. He told me that most people my age (I’m 30) don’t know the significance of December 7th.
Today’s Chattanooga Times Free Press featured an article about Pearl Harbor and survivors who now live in our area.
“As the years go by, it gets easier and easier,” said Mr. Calhoun, one of a dwindling number of survivors nationwide of the Pearl Harbor attack and one of about five in the Chattanooga area.
They will meet today, as they do every month, to talk — mostly about their families and the events in their lives, and rarely about Pearl Harbor.
To those who gave their lives and those who survived to continue fighting, we thank you and we do remember.
