My top five Chattanooga choices for Mother’s Day lunch
When I was growing up, it seemed that Mother’s Day would culminate around where to eat. The idea was to give mom a “day off” from that thankless task of cooking a big Sunday meal.
Now that I am a mom, I get to be the center of attention on that special day (after I give my own mother her present and phone call, of course). I told my husband he doesn’t have to get me a gift because I already bought it for myself. But that doesn’t let him off the hook for making the day special. In fact, he better be thinking about this right now!
Well, he might not be thinking about it right this very second, but I am happy to help give him a few directions to take to make Mother’s Day special.
Tennessee State Parks is pleased to announce that all eight state park restaurants will be serving a delicious Mother’s Day Buffet on Sunday, May 13. The Mother’s Day Buffet will be available beginning at 11:00 a.m. until closing at these state park restaurants: Cumberland Mountain State Park; David Crockett State Park (Lawrenceburg); Fall Creek Falls State Park; Henry Horton State Park; Montgomery Bell State Park; Natchez Trace State Park; Paris Landing State Park; and Pickwick Landing State Park.
We have been enjoying the beautiful Tennessee Valley weather lately. The sunshine has kissed my shoulders and made it delightful to be outside enjoying the birds and backyard. A lunch at Fall Creek Falls (the closest from that list) would be wonderful and memorable.
5. A raincheck. It is true, I might like to have my special meal postponed to a later date. That is because I really, really want to have a meal at St. John’s Restaurant. But, that isn’t really the place to go with a toddler or in a rush after all the hustle and bustle of Sunday morning. To get a nice card with a reservation date inside it would delight me and show me that what I want matters too, not just what is easiest for the family.
There are lots of dining experiences in Chattanooga to enjoy, but if I get a special day all to myself, those are what I think would work for me.

I saved your post. The kids and I love Chattanooga…we “escaped” there for hurrican Ivan a few years back and everyone was just so nice! We’re planning to go back (next hurricane!)
